PROJECT

Building Inclusive Communities Video Title

The word “building,” the notion of community, and the keyhole sculpture, brought this title and to life.

ROLE:
Concept, Design, Illustration, Motion

CLIENT:
City of Columbia

DELIVERABLE:
Video/Web/Social Media

Challenge:
This video promoted new diversity training at the City of Columbia. The challenge was creating a title that signified diversity and openness and incorporating video footage of the keyhole sculpture, a large 3d sculpture that sits in front of city hall. The sculpture has become a symbol that represents the people of Columbia.
Solution:
I created an icon from the video imagery of the keyhole sculpture and used it as an overlay on top of the footage. I chose a typeface with an architectural structure. The architectural quality of the letters, together with the city symbol, represented the idea  of physically “building”  a strong foundation  for a  new community together. Focusing on the word “us” within inclusive was a secondary concept to underline the goal of bringing city residents together to grow in their understanding of diversity and inclusivity.
