The series represents a sequence of events taking place over several hours during which a potential client is faced with the stock market collapse, heavy traffic, news about the war, and an argument with a partner, sending him or her spiraling into a desperate and angry state.

CHALLENGE
This poster, illustrated for educational purposes at the California Institute of Integral Studies, represents the clinical relationship between therapist and client. The poster alludes to Freud’s theory of erotic transference and simultaneously demonstrates more recent theories on intersubjectivity. These theories claim that both therapist and client have multi-layered subjective thoughts and world-views that affect their abilities to understand each other. The “gap” is the space where there is no understanding and where the therapist finds quotes and thoughts from great practitioners for guidance.
