Willie Cole visits Lee Elementary Video Title
Willie Cole uses recycled shoes, bottles, containers, and tires for his amazing sculptures. This video documents his visit to a local school where he taught kids about making artwork with plastic containers.

Challenge:
I was challenged to create a title about artist Willie Cole’s to a local school. He worked with students to paint and draw on plastic containers and turn them into works of art. The challenge was to incorporate the artist’s work, the theme of recycling, and the school, into the title.
Solution:
After researching the artist, I discovered that he uses recycled shoes, plastic containers, etc. for his fantastic works of art and I wanted to include some of this quirkiness in the title. As a way to do this, I created letter shapes out of these recycled objects. I was concerned that they would not be legible, however and in the end my client and I decided to use actual letters and transform them the letters I had created out of objects so that the audience was sure to understand them. I was also excited to use that concept because transforming one thing into another or recycling was part of the story we wanted to tell.
