PROJECT

Downtown Trees Video Title

This title envisions a revitalized downtown with glorious new trees for shade and beautification. The video describes how rainwater filtration and special planters would makes this possible.

ROLE:
Concept, Design, Illustration, Motion

CLIENT:
City of Columbia

DELIVERABLE:
Video/Web/Social Media

Challenge:

The goal of this video was to explain to citizens how large, beautiful, shade generating trees could be planted in the City of Columbia’s fast growing downtown district. These trees could be planted in Silva Cells which would allow their roots to grow and additionally create a filtration system for stormwater, preventing polluted water from ending up in Columbia’s rivers.

Solution:
I found photographs of the specific trees intended for the project and overlay them on video of city streets, given to me by the producer. I then chose two different typefaces. The first represented the downtown, sleek and proud. The second was a script font, used for the word “trees.” The second was contrasted with the first and signified nature.
