Mayor’s Environmental Protection Award Video Titles

This series of video titles was created for the City of Columbia’s Mayor’s Environmental Protection Award, highlighting local companies excelling in sustainability, innovation, and pollution prevention. Using footage provided by the producer, I transformed the visuals into a layered, collage-style sequence — an effect inspired by the title design of Bosch. The result is a textured, dimensional look that reflects the interconnectedness of environmental responsibility, community, industry, and progress.

CHALLENGE:

To design a cohesive series of titles that felt sophisticated and unified across multiple videos, while working with existing footage shot by the production team. The titles needed to evoke both professionalism and creativity — aligning with the award’s purpose of recognizing sustainable leadership — without overshadowing the featured companies.

SOLUTION:

I employed a layered, collage-like visual treatment (similar to the split-image or double-exposure effect used in Bosch TV titles) to create depth and motion within the existing footage. This approach allowed multiple environmental elements — water, energy, nature, and industry — to overlap and interact visually. Subtle transitions and color grading unified the series, while typography remained clean and civic, reinforcing the credibility and purpose of the awards. The final design strikes a balance between artistry and clarity, celebrating both innovation and environmental stewardship.
