PROJECT
Climate Protection Agreement Awards Event Video Titles
These brightly colored illustrations representing climate change issues were used at an awards event celebrating local companies.
CHALLENGE:
Each year, the City of Columbia honors local businesses that take meaningful steps to reduce their environmental impact. Our media department was asked to produce a series of short films showcasing the innovative sustainability, recycling, and conservation practices of the award-winning companies. These videos were featured at a community celebration and later shared on the City’s website and social media.
My challenge was twofold: first, to incorporate a logo, designed by another team, into the video titles in a way that felt fresh and original; and second, to create title designs that were visually appealing, relevant, and inviting to viewers.
SOLUTION:
After conducting research and brainstorming visual directions, I developed illustrated title sequences featuring animals and habitats threatened by climate change. Since the City’s message centered on positive change and collaboration, I chose bright, primary colors to convey energy and optimism, deliberately avoiding somber or tragic imagery.
Each piece included a radiant sun, symbolizing both warmth and the rising global temperatures driving the need for action. To bring the provided logo to life, I animated its components representing land, sea, and sky individually, then united them at the end to emphasize connection and balance within the natural world.
