PROJECT
Downtown Trees Video Title
I designed a title that imagines a bright, tree-lined downtown brought to life through sustainable infrastructure. The video explains how innovative rainwater filtration systems and specialized planters enable this transformation—capturing runoff, nourishing the trees, and creating a greener, more livable city center. The visuals highlight growth, renewal, and the harmony between urban development and nature.
CHALLENGE:
The goal of this video was to show Columbia residents how large, shade-giving trees could take root in the city’s rapidly growing downtown district. The City planned to plant these trees in Silva Cells—underground systems that allow roots to spread freely while filtering stormwater and preventing pollutants from reaching local rivers. The creative challenge was to present this technical, infrastructure-driven concept in a way that felt clear, inviting, and visually inspiring.
SOLUTION:
To ground the project in reality, I used photographs of the specific tree species planned for downtown and overlaid them onto video footage of Columbia’s streets, provided by the producer. This approach helped viewers imagine the city’s future landscape.
For the title design, I paired two contrasting typefaces: a clean, modern font representing the urban environment, and a flowing script for the word “trees,” symbolizing nature’s organic presence within the city. The result was a balanced composition that visually echoed the project’s message—urban progress in harmony with natural growth.
