PROJECT
Stephens Stormwater Partnership Video Title
“Rain garden” sounds lovely, looks pretty, and works efficiently to filter stormwater.
CHALLENGE:
The City of Columbia is surrounded by a network of rivers and creeks that flow into the Missouri River, waterways increasingly affected by pollution from stormwater runoff. To showcase the City’s innovative solutions for managing this pollution, our team produced a series of videos featuring new green-infrastructure technologies and community partnerships. This particular video highlighted the City’s collaboration with Stephens College. The creative challenge was to translate technical, data-driven concepts into a story that felt visually engaging, relatable, and full of energy.
SOLUTION:
I designed a title illustration that transformed the idea of stormwater into a visual journey. It begins with flowing waves of neon blues and greens representing runoff, which gradually morph into the organic shapes and colors of a rain garden—lush purples and pinks symbolizing growth and renewal.
Each layer of water evolves into a layer of the rain garden itself, illustrating how natural filtration works to purify stormwater. The final sequence blends science and artistry, turning a complex environmental process into a bright, fluid animation that captures the City’s spirit of innovation and sustainability.
